This 13-day tour of Southern Ethiopia offers an unforgettable journey through the region's rich cultural heritage and stunning natural landscapes. Starting in Addis Ababa, you will explore vibrant markets, ancient churches, and museums before flying to Jinka, gateway to the Omo Valley. Over the next several days, you will meet diverse indigenous tribes such as the Mursi, Karo, Hamar, and Nyangatom, learning about their unique traditions, lifestyles, and ceremonies. Along the way, you will visit spectacular sites like Mago National Park, Lake Chamo, and Bale Mountains National Park, where you can see rare wildlife including the Ethiopian Wolf. The tour concludes with a return to Addis Ababa after exploring the beautiful Rift Valley lakes and national parks. Travel itinerary

Day 1 - Arrival in Addis Ababa

Upon arrival at Bole International Airport, our team will welcome you and transfer you to your hotel. Later begin a short city tour including the <b>National Museum of Ethiopia</b>, home of the famous <b>3.2-million-year-old fossil Lucy.</b> Continue to <b>Merkato</b>, the largest open-air market in Africa, and visit <b>Holy Trinity Cathedral.</b> End the day with a traditional Ethiopian coffee ceremony.

Day 2 - Fly to Jinka

Fly to Jinka, gateway to the famous Omo Valley. Visit the South Omo Research Center Museum and explore the town. In the afternoon meet the Ari people, known for their agriculture and traditional lifestyle.

Overnight: Eco Omo Lodge

Day 3 - Jinka to Turmi

Drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for their unique lip plates and strong cultural traditions. Continue to Turmi with a stop at the colorful Key Afer Market.

Overnight: Paradise Lodge

Day 4 - Karo & Nyangatom Tribes

Excursion to Korcho village to meet the Karo people, well known for their beautiful body painting and culture along the Omo River. Later visit the Nyangatom tribe near Kangaten village.

Day 5 - Dasenach & Hamar People

Drive to Omorate to visit the Dasenach tribe, who live along the Omo River. In the afternoon explore Dimeka Market and meet the Hamar people, famous for their colorful beads, ochre hairstyles, and the traditional bull-jumping ceremony.

Day 6 - Turmi – Konso – Arba Minch

Drive north visiting the Arbore tribe on the way. Continue to Konso Cultural Landscape, known for its stone-terraced villages and traditional Waga wooden statues.

Day 7 - Lake Chamo & Dorze Village

Morning boat trip on Lake Chamo inside Nechisar National Park to see crocodiles, hippos, and many bird species. In the afternoon visit the Dorze people, famous for their tall beehive-shaped houses and weaving traditions.

Day 8 - Arba Minch to Hawassa

Drive through the beautiful Rift Valley landscape to Hawassa with a stop at Senkele Wildlife Sanctuary, home of the endangered Swayne’s Hartebeest.

Overnight: Haile Resort Hawassa

Day 9 - Hawassa to Bale Mountains National Park

Visit Hawassa’s lively fish market before driving to Bale Mountains via Dinsho, the park headquarters. Continue through spectacular landscapes toward the Harenna Forest.

Overnight: Bale Mountain Lodge

Day 10 - Explore Bale Mountains

Full day exploring Bale Mountains National Park. Look for the rare Ethiopian Wolf, giant mole rats, and unique Afro-alpine wildlife across the Sanetti Plateau and Harenna Forest.

Day 11 - Bale Mountains to Lake Langano

Drive to Lake Langano, the only Rift Valley lake safe for swimming. Relax by the lakeside and enjoy the peaceful scenery

Overnight: Hara Langano Lodge

Day 12 - Abijatta-Shalla National Park

Abijatta-Shalla National Park
Excursion to Abijatta-Shalla National Park to see flamingos, hot springs, ostriches, and antelopes. Afternoon relaxation at Lake Langano.

Overnight: Afternoon relaxation at Lake Langano.

Day 13 - Return to Addis Ababa

Drive back to Addis Ababa with a stop at Lake Ziway for a boat trip to observe pelicans, storks, and hippos. Continue to Addis Ababa for your evening international departure.
